Tax Day: Uncle Sam Craft

Posted by

We hope tax season wasn't too hard on you. Here's a craft to keep the kids busy today if you're prepping for an Easter gathering.

Supplies needed:

1. Egg carton lid
2. Red, white, blue, black construction paper.
3. White paint and paint brush
4. Glue
5. Scissors/exacto knife

Step 1:
Cut lid off of egg carton.

Step 2:
Paint half of lid white, including sides. Along with a beard shape about three quarters of the way down. Let dry.

Step 3:
While you're waiting for the paint to dry, cut a piece of blue construction paper 6 in. x 3 in. In the center cut out a star shape.

Step 4:
Cut a bow shape out of the red construction paper, roughly 4 in. x 2.5 in. You can also cut a strip to create the bow tie knot. Cut out mouth shape.

Step 5:
Cut out almond eye shapes out of the white construction paper. Then, cut two circles out of the black construction paper for the eyes.

Step 6:
Now that the white paint is dry, glue the blue star band, eyes, mouth and bow tie.

Step 7: (For adults only)
Use an exacto knife to cut out the sides for the brim of the hat. Cut out hair strands and nose shape. Lastly, cut out his beard. This gives Uncle Sam a fun, 3D quality.

Recycle. Refund. Repeat.
